Descriptions of Massage & Bodywork Modalities

Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a light touch manual therapy that works with the

body’s self-correcting mechanism to affect multiple structural and physiological

systems in attaining greater health and well being. As the name implies, it

involves mobilizing restrictions within the cranium and the sacrum. However,

because of the anatomical and physiological connections, it is really a whole body

approach. It is practiced by various healthcare professionals including physical

therapists.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger point therapy is a massage technique that involves applying firm pressure to trigger points, or knots, in the body to relieve pain and tension. Trigger points are often found in the shoulders, back, and hips, but can occur anywhere in the body.

Thai Bodywork, Facilitated Stretching & PNF

Thai Bodywork is a healing system that combines acupressure, stretching, and assisted yoga postures to gently lengthen muscles, mobilize joints, and unblock and balance energy pathways.

Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) is a stretching technique and therapy utilized to improve muscle elasticity and has been shown to have a positive effect on active and passive range of motions. It can help reduce risk to injury and improve everyday movement to a more balanced function.

Therapeutic Massage

Therapeutic Massage

Therapeutic massage is a goal-oriented treatment that manipulates the body’s soft tissues to relieve pain, help the body heal injuries, and restore physical function.

Myofascial Release

Therapeutic Massage

Therapeutic Massage

This therapy is focused on pain that comes from myofascial tissues (muscle-connective tissue) — the tough coverings that wrap, connect and support muscles. The techniques in this therapy can vary in their approach but generally work the connective tissue rather as compared to traditional massage techniques seen in Swedish.

Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them, humanity cannot survive.
